Patricia (ProtoPie Team): Amazing progress! However, it's still very limited for my use case where I need to pull images & videos (as URLs) into the prototype. The plugin seems to only have the ability to assign output to text variables and there's no way to display media through URLs. I see that media URLs are in-progress so excited to try it out when it's ready as I think that'll really make the API plugin powerful. Is there any ETA on the URL functionality?
Patricia (ProtoPie Team)
Mete Polat: yes URL support for media layers is coming in ProtoPie 7.9, which is expected to release toward the end of this month :) Stay tuned!

Patricia (ProtoPie Team): In progress, wuhu! I’m super excited about this feature. There are so many ideas of data management merged into this feature request, that go beyond the idea of API calls, that I cannot wait to see what will be implemented.
Patricia (ProtoPie Team)
Philipp Nürnberg: Yes it's coming soon in ProtoPie Connect :) We're happy to hear you're looking forward to trying it out!

Any kind of mechanism for storing app state to re-load the next time the app is run would be great.
Maybe something akin to the LocalStorage model in ActionScript and HTML5, where an app can save data local to the app/browser's datastore, without having to deal with the OS for file I/O (tricky on mobile platforms).
I recognize this is currently achievable using Connect, but running a web service just to store simple pref data seems like overkill. Also, our prototypes most often need to run on mobile devices without network connectivity. If we have an operator and the right gear present, we can run a local network to get around this, but having a compact way to store even basic configuration data on-device would be lovely.

To some extent, prototyping with real data is already possible with Connect and our IFTTT (Webhooks) plugin (available with the Pro and Enterprise plan) 🔥
And with the Enterprise plan, you can also connect to public APIs through custom Plugins: https://www.protopie.io/learn/docs/connect/custom-plugins

Patricia (ProtoPie Team): Does this include pulling media outside of just strings / variables / responses? Can Connect be used to populate images or videos? Most content today is non-text, so being able to pull dynamic media assets would be key
Patricia (ProtoPie Team)
Mete Polat: There isn't a simple way of achieving this in the current version. However, it's a feature our product team is actively discussing. They would like to better understand your needs and use cases. If you can provide more context, it would help a lot :)
