Ability to Flatten Layers in Sketch
Kairavi Chahal
Ability to mark groups to be flattened on export. Principle has this feature where if you append "principle flatten" to any layer in Sketch, that will imported as an image rather than as a group. This is useful for things like buttons where you don't necessarily need to animate every component inside it, but might need to make changes to the visuals in Sketch from time to time.

The option to import flattened layers is available for the ProtoPie Plugin in Figma. You can read our latest release article to find out more about this upgraded feature: https://www.protopie.io/blog/whats-new-protopie-7-10

The flattened layer is a png

This feature was available with the "just import exportable layers". This way you could mark whole groups as exportable and you got the flatten image. But with the "new" Sketch plugin we don't have this possibility anymore. Boon and bane at the same time.

While this method of marking layers/groups in the source file would certainly work, there is an earlier post which seems to be alluding to a feature IN the app which would be better:

Please add this as an option within ProtoPie, as opposed to the method of marking specific layers/groups within the source file to be flattened upon import.

the Principle way is not exactly the most efficient way. A better way would be to do the same thing as Sketch. Have an option to flatten selected group

george b: Fair enough. I just meant to show an example, not necessarily suggest that it should be implemented in a similar way. Thanks!

george b: I agree with this.
