Gradient support should find its way into ProtoPie this year!
In the meantime, check out this smart workaround by our trainer Jeffrey Clarke:

Hi Team,
I'm trying to workaround gradients with PNGs or SVGs but they also don't work :/

Merged in a post:
Import vector elements with gradient properties
Carla Perez
Vector elements imported from Figma with specific attributes such as gradient colors, GIF as background are flattened and converted in image. The conversion is not good and doesn't reflect the original design correctly!

It's been about 4 years since this feature was requested!

Patricia (ProtoPie Team): Ha, since when does ProtoPie support alpha masks? :D When I tried it ... 2 years ago(?) alpha masks were not supported, and I probably over read them since then in the release notes. Good to know I don't have to fake the mask for fading out content anymore.

Philipp Nürnberg: it was introduced with version 7.2.0 😉

What the #^*# are we supposed to do with this? Our gradients are precisely defined in Figma and that’s the connectivity we rely on.
I can edit gradients in the most basic, throwaway FREE apps on my phone. How is it that the dev team at ProtoPie still can’t code something as simple as a gradient, after THREE YEARS?
If you didn’t have a timeline, I would never open ProtoPie again.

trevor gilchrist: They chose to prioritize other feature requests but gradients are in the roadmap for this year. We'll keep this page updated ;)

Not having gradients is a big hurdle in selling others to use ProtoPie as they are so common in modern designs: fills, masks, and even strokes. Really need this feature to justify continuing to use the tool.

My friends, I know this may be very difficult and problematic from a technical point of view, but we really need this feature.

This is absolutely critical. Both as a fill and to use as a mask.

HAH wow I literally come back every six months or so and am surprised everytime at the terrrrrrrible support proto pie has for the most basic of basic BASIC capability. I will NEVER be looking for protopie again. Not sure what you're doing but my goodness how y'all stay afloat is clear that overbloating the price point and finding naive buyers. Anyone with an hour or two inside the platform would never pay your prices to the feature set. If you cannot accomplish the most basic UI than why would we? And this now 3 years ago? What a joke.

Bryan Funk: agreed, I just got into Protopie for about 2 hours, and the wrkflow is so very teadious.

Wow, I thought for sure that support for gradients would have been added already. FFS, are you serious?!?! I'm completely embarrassed that I actually have to tell our design team that gradients aren't supported in ProtoPie. Looks like we're sticking with Figma for now.

Ryan ahemexcuseme: The topic was under review a couple of months ago, but Patricia from the ProtoPie team mentioned somewhere in the comments here, that the gradients implementation was facing performance issues.
But it's back in "under review" now, so I'm full of hope, that the ProtoPie team will implement it this year.
